Speech On Identity

There moves a silhouette in the distance. You can barely make out who they are. They come closer and you can see their face structure, skin color and body type. This starts becoming who they are. You meet the figure and begin talking with them. As you converse, you create a further vivid image of who they are. The components of this person, personality and looks, associate together and meld into one being - their personhood. Each of the phenotypes outlining an individual is physical expressions of the genome, a static strand of code that determines growth. The one physical characteristic we, as humans, have control over is how we present our hair. Each style says something different relative to a person: crew cut, ponytail, afro, beard. During this transitional period, I have a chance to contemplate my identity. With all these different facial hair styles, I must be some sort of shape-shifter. I have been blessed with an ability to rapidly grow luscious locks of hair, however I can’t keep changing for the rest of my life. I need to find solace in my personality. The human race lives doomed unless we can solve our non-renewable energy issue: fossil fuels and nuclear energy. Once we run out, progress will be put to a grinding halt and it will be nearly impossible to recover. This stands the largest issue of my generation, what we will be dealing with in only a few decades, something my parents never needed to regard. It is paramount that we regulate consumption of non-renewable energy sources, and devote further resources to research and development of renewable energy sources so that we can sustain ourselves on this planet. My goal is to create affordable, efficient, renewable energy sources that significantly outweigh the production cost of our non-renewable sources before we are strained by inflated energy

The summer of 1955 is an unordinary summer for Jack Wolff. Trapped in the transitioning body of an eleven-year-old boy, Jack is drowning in the emotional trauma of a violent home life, illegal activities, and a lack of emotional support known as his childhood. This is a major period of change for any young boy, and dealing with the extensive distress does not allow him to mature in the conventional manner. 1.0 Introduction Richard J. Muller is an accomplished professor at the University of California at Berkeley with expertise in a variety of areas including: energy efficiency, conservation, solar power, and nuclear power. His book “Energy for Future Presidents” is an open monologue where Muller expresses his thoughts on the current state of energy sources and its potential in a growing world where the demand for energy is continually escalating. The need for this book stems from a lack of in-depth knowledge about energy sources and the issues surrounding it. This publication focuses around exploring alternatives for energy security in the United States, while also keeping in mind the effects that these energy sources have on global warming. One of the greatest strengths encompassed within the reading pertains to the author’s ability to be non-subjective in his writing and that the author offers a different perspective on energy; separate from the way the world understands it.…

In his most famous speech, Martin Luther King Jr. does an excellent job of convincing people that African American people should be treated equally to every other American. There were many inspiring sections of this speech, but one of my favourites occurred when he said, “This will be the day, this will be the day when all God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning”. (p.2) When he is speaking this words, he appears to be very connected to the material that he is presenting and also that he is connecting on a deep, emotional level with the audience. I respect King because of the boldness he showed in giving this speech.…

A person’s identity is what makes them unique and sets them apart from other individuals. Privilege is constructed and standardized by the established frameworks of society and it grants privilege to people due to certain aspects of their identity. All through life, privileges will change each day contingent upon your location, the society you are surrounded by, and your current social status. Realizing that benefits are for the most part based on identities, despite we still continue to move on and improve ourselves.…

How someone identifies is a complicated matter to dissect. There are an innumerable amount of factors that play into identity, both internally and externally to an individual. The fact that culture is an integral part only adds more complexity, as many cultures are becoming increasingly integrated and globalized with other unique groups. Generally speaking, identity is usually determined, often simultaneously, on three different levels: the national level, in one’s community, and at the personal level of self.…

Declaration Preamble When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for students to speak up and take action against the unfair treatment we receive from adults we must stand up and declare that adults are supposed to be our leaders, the people we look up too, the ones that guide us on the right path as well as the people that are supposed to support us with our decision. But how are they supposed to do this when they do not appreciate us and do not try to understand us. Statement of Beliefs Many adults do in fact set great examples for the young adults of this century, but from recent and past experiences these same adults have failed to lead us as well as appreciate us. We believe that adults should take the time to try and understand…

Identity Theory suggests that the mind is created solely by mind states— its singular suggestion being sensations are brain processes.
