Physially Fit Personal Statement

Decent Essays
My goal for this class is to simply become more physially fit. To be completely honest, I absolutely do not enjoy excersie and thus I never do. I cannot even remember the last time I worked out. This summer I will be gone on a msisions trip that envolves teaching children. When one is physically fit, the missions trip over all is a lot more enjoyable because one is able to run and play with the kids more. So my overall goal for this class is simply to become more physically fit so I can run and play with kids longer on my upcoming missions trip.

LOOKING AFTER YOUR HEART Unfortunately, coronary heart disease (CHD) is the biggest killer in the UK, with around 73,000 deaths per year according to nhs.uk. CHD basically refers to the narrowing or blocking of your arteries which supply the blood to the heart and is caused by a gradual build-up of fatty deposits inside your arteries. Fitness and Goal Setting Knowledge Fitness and goal setting have been the main topic of conversation in this class. Whether we need to work on legs or arms today, or what we are going to do in the future. I learned that it is better to do quantity over quality when it comes to fitness workouts, and that it is always important to stretch and warm up your muscles before a workout to ensure you do not strain any muscles. For goal setting, I learned that if you pick a specific goal that you wish to achieve, like say to reach +10 in the fitness flexibility test, you can keep working towards that goal step by step, or in this case number by number, to reach your goals efficiently. When reaching towards a goal, you cannot just make it in one try…

While there are many things that distinguish people from one another, such as politics and religion, there is one common characteristic that we indisputably all share: our dependence on movement. Movement brings us together and enables our world to function. Every day, billions of people depend on their ability to move in order to do the most demanding endeavors, as well as common, simple tasks such as cooking and cleaning. For this reason, the loss of mobility and movement, which often accompanies injury or disease, can feel debilitating and has the potential to challenge a person’s identity. While it is easy to forget the simple luxuries that come with mobility, it is hard to ignore the physical challenges posed by disease and illness.…

This particular health goal was chosen for the reason that I felt my cardiovascular endurance could use improvement in comparison to my sprinting speed. It was a weak point that I want to address because when sprinting, I could not maintain my speed for long periods of time or distances. In addition, I plan to join the track team in the spring and hope to prepare myself for it. As I continue my fitness journey in Zumba toning, there are areas of progression as well as areas for improvement. Currently, we are in the eighth week of the semester, but I have been enrolled in Zumba toning for only five weeks. Also, I was absent for two sessions and one session was cancelled. Unfortunately, it is difficult for me to measure my progress in some areas due to these circumstances. My three goals that I set for myself this semester was to maintain a balanced, nutritious diet, to increase my energy levels and to tone specifically my legs and arms.…

This class was actually very interesting and really helped me to open my eyes to the ways in which I have been not focusing on my physical health. When it comes to my present activity level, a lot has changed from the beginning of this class. I have to say that before this class I never made physical activity a priority in my day. I counted walking to class as a form of physical activity, which it was, but not enough. I am a lazy person and would rather be laying around watching Netflix than going to the gym.…
