Phrenology is a pseudo practice of medicine focusing on the measurements of the human skull and how that relates to basically every trait of the person, be it physical or character trait. Scientific Racism is defined as the use of similar ostensible medicinal and pseudo-scientific methods to justify the theory of racism. It is the practice of classifying individuals of different phenotypes into discrete races, historically this has received much credence in the community, although now the practice is considered pseudo-scientific (Audiopedia, 2016). One of the paramount episode were the crusades. The Crusades were a series of religious wars sanctioned by the Latin churches in the medieval period (wikipedia, 2010). They were primarily started to secure control of holy sites considered sacred by both the Christians and the men in power, the Muslims. The role of the church in promoting the unity of man ended during the Crusades, when it called to wrench the Holy Land from the infidels. It is often remembered as an example of Catholic intolerance and repression. The inquisition was a movement to maintain Catholic orthodoxy and was under the control of Spanish monarchy. The Inquisition was originally intended primarily to identify heretics among those who converted from Judaism and Islam to Catholicism. It was also established in part to prevent conversos; a Jew who publicly recanted the Jewish faith and adopted Christianity under the pressure of the inquisition, from engaging into Jewish practices (wik). This was eventually overhauled by the racist hatred towards the Jews which were considered the enemies of the Catholic faith. The newly converts were therefore also considered the same as they were the bearer of the same impure blood and came from the perverse lineage of the Jews. The alleged Jewish role in killing Christ was a kind of original sin, inherited by Jews and passed down in the blood. Because the act superseded the rite of baptism, baptism could not purge conversos of this crime (Gorsky, 2016).
