Please accept the enclosed materials as my application for the position of Full-Time Faculty Photography Instructor to begin on August 10, 2015. Teaching printmaking, photography, and foundation courses has afforded me the opportunity to refine my pedagogical skills while I continue to grow as a professional artist. Based on my research, Vincennes University believes in emphasizing craft and concept to mold students into intuitive, intellectual, contemporary artists that are fully prepared to transfer into a four-year program. I am searching for such a teaching opportunity—where I can engage students in art making as both a tool for personal expression and a means for career development.

In addition, I mentored international graduate students in the photography darkroom, lighting studio, and digital output studio. Moreover, as an undergraduate, I worked in the photography laboratory where I oversaw and maintained equipment, chemicals, and safety regulations. These opportunities have allowed me to prove that I am committed to the institutions where I teach by listening to peers to create consensus in safety regulations, course work, and contemporary …show more content…
I have instructed students on core photography, printmaking, and drawing principles and issues. Through independent photography workshops, I armed numerous individuals of various ages within the community with the knowledge and skills to adapt to the ever-evolving digital world. This professional experience not only gives me the capability to teach a myriad of students, but also to understand how to create an integrated curriculum that has continuity from beginning to advanced levels of study. As Vice President of numerous R.S.O.’s, I sought out exhibition spaces and curated/co-curated numerous juried and non-juried exhibitions, which allows me to eagerly await the challenges and opportunities that come from directing a gallery program in addition to the responsibilities as a Vincennes University Instructor of

For the exhibition event, I visited the Hope Horn gallery and saw Bernice D’Vorzons’s Works on Paper. The Hope Horn gallery is a prominent location for one to experience art in the University of Scranton. In addition, the exhibitions and programming complement the university’s curricula, encourage campus and community collaborations, support regional artists, and provide arts in education opportunities. The exhibit consisted of acrylic paintings and some of the work in the gallery were donated the painter’s private collection. Bernice D’Vorzon was born in the year 1932 in Bronx, New York.…

Try being still long enough to find the right image you want to capture through the lens of a camera. Finding the right shot takes time, which each shot you want it to be precise and just right. You always want as a photographer to make the first shot the best one mostly so you want have to take the time to find another shot. Imagine how frustrating it is thinking you’re first shot is the best until you look at the blurry and unfocused picture. The first time you look at that picture you think to yourself that you can just retake that same picture and will look different the next time.…

When we look at the world today, not all of us enjoy art, not many of us practice it, But no one is surprised when someone comes along from our friends or family who is deemed talented at art. This mindset, this overall acceptance than anyone can go out and learn how to do what they love. It’s a modern phenomena, full of aspiring graphic artists and cartoonists, painters and animators. We see more and more art classes each year, the world seems to want to learn how to do art, because having artistry as a hobby has become commonplace in these times. This alone encourages me to go beyond the surface level of brainstorming for my coming art pieces and motivates me to look critically at the art around me to possibly understand what its creator was experiencing at that moment in time. Attending the opening reception has opened my eyes to think deeper when I need inspiration for my next project. Overall, the reception was rather inspiring if you could get past the lengthy speech accompanied by microphone technical issues. Both exhibits were thought provoking in their own sense; Louise’s double exposure photographs resonated with my love for visually compelling and graphic art. Her analogy of windows and mirrors heavily deals with an artist’s identity and their identity within their own creations and encourages me to look deeper into myself and my art to find the deeper hidden meanings that I might not even know…

As I walked into the AP Studio Art classroom on the first day of my field study, I was taken aback by the vivid colors and distinct decorations that fought for my attention. Before studying the class, my perception of art had always been that it was sporadic, messy, and wild yet organized beautifully by an artist to make something for everyone to enjoy. This description fit the art classroom exactly. The walls were obviously originally painted white, but over the years have been transformed into landscapes of masterpieces by art students enrolled in the courses. Pictures of human eyes, dragons, mountains, and other shapes stole my attention as I attempted to take in the scenery.…

An abundance of people appreciate the arts, whether it be the performing, visual or theatrical areas, on the other hand, I love them. My passion being the visual arts. Instead of writing and spelling at five years old, I was drawing, painting mixing colors and forming shapes not realizing the capableness of my techniques for such a young aged child. Because drawing was the only thing I fancied, every one figured it was “a phase I was going through and would grow out of it”. It never happened.…

Although I am not certain of my specific career path, I hope setting aside time for graduate study will support me in solidifying my passions and finding my purpose. However, in essence I wish to support and facilitate the magic of museums. I am moved by the times I was struck with awe looking at a dinosaur replica as a child, excited by stone tools from ancient societies as a teenager, or inspired by an artist’s dynamic brushstrokes as an adult. I want to internalize these experiences and connections, using my work to recreate them for others. Allowing visitors to forge unique memories while inspiring wonder is my ultimate…
