Summary Photochemical reduction of CO2 to produce formic acid is high in demand for renewable energy sources that create energy to produce transportable fuel by photosynthesis Artificial photosynthesis is a step forward for chemists in the photochemical reduction of carbon dioxide. Nevertheless, an often-neglected necessary ingredient for photochemical CO2 reduction is a sacrificial electron donor, such as a tertiary amine which can be a new way for combining the photochemical reduction of CO2 to photochemical water-splitting. To be able to make food in places where people never thought food could be made would be amazing and a great undertaking the world could ever experience. There are many possibilities people can do with the scientific research in which the world can benefit from. Simply having done this research opens new doors to many possibilities. According to previous studies, mesophyll cells are specialized for photosynthesis (Richardson 302). These cells in the middle of the leaf contain many chloroplasts, the organelles that perform photosynthesis. In the plant cell structure gas exchange, oxygen and carbon dioxide takes place within the chloroplasts, and the food produced by the chloroplasts must move out of the cells to other parts of the plant (Richardson 303). The first isolatable reduction product of CO2 is formic acid. Formic acid has many uses. Formic acid is immensely dangerous at unnatural high concentrations, it is actually a highly resourceful and extremely useful food additive and manufacturing chemical. It's agricultural uses account for a very high percentage worldwide. Because of its natural antibacterial properties, formic acid has achieved very high use as an antibacterial preservative and pesticide. In addition to its use in agriculture, byproducts of formic acid have recently been created to help improve slippery road conditions. I remember he started out by making it out of a small jar and some hoses. My parents didn't think much of it since all he was working with was water. I became interested in what he was building initially since he told me a story of a man who was murdered for inventing a water fuel cell.
