Phosphorus Uses

Phosphorus (chemical symbol P) is an element that comes in the form of three allotropic. A white waxy solid, a red powder or black powder .White phosphorus is poisonous and when it comes in contacts with air (0) it can spontaneously ignite, which is why white phosphorus is stored in water (figure A). Phosphorus boiling point is 280°C and a melting of 44°C. When phosphorus is boiled it forms a red powder (figure B) which is found in the head safety matches (figure C). Black phosphorus is created by adding oxygen and one more element. Phosphorus is a useful element that is used for a number of reasons. The benefits of phosphorus can positively impact individuals, society and the environment. Most of the phosphorus is found in the bones and teeth and helps with the growth of them. Phosphorus is needed for the growth and repair of tissues and cells. This is why phosphorus benefits an individual in positive ways. Too much phosphorus ingested by eating foods rich in phosphates can cause kidney damage and osteoporosis. Phosphorus is essential to helping plants grow and is found some foods such as; salmon, tuna, chicken, eggs and cheese. These foods are essential to society to keep them healthy and happy. As phosphorus is in plants to help them grow and it is used in some fertilizer this is why phosphorus is essential, without the use of phosphorus this would impact the environment in ways like crops growing very slowly. Crops growing slowly would impact the animals and the industry. When phosphorus is mined for uses it emits phosphates into the air which can affect organisms and this effects the environment in negative
