The Phoenix Mars Lander is a spacecraft that NASA sent to Mars that descended on May 25, 2008. This unmanned mission was to provide insight on whether Mars had been able to sustain life by searching for water.
During its mission, Phoenix confirmed the existence of water ice on Mars, which suggests the capability of being able to sustain life roughly 100,000 years ago.
