Phlebotomy is one of the jobs that need more time to prepare before they assist any health care patients. Drawing blood is the most important points phlebotomies need to know before entering any hospitals or clinic center for their job. In this process, I will show you how to prepare three steps before drawing blood from patients that I used to do it every day in Vietnam. First of all, checked the patient paperwork; the second step is labelling the patient name on each blood tube; the third step are putting medical supplies on the tray. You have to make sure that the requisition and labels match exactly with the patient’s identification. Label is the very important part, because you carry out the wrong labels with another patient that means the results came out it can change the patient life. For example, if you label a patient with sick symptoms of their body but suddenly all results is clear, that might make patient happy because the blood tested result. On the other hand, the other patient that just testified as a routine tested every six month got a bad result. The patient might get into depression and started to stress out with their health. It will cause a lot of trouble. Finally, put the medical supply on the tray. You should have all medical supplies on the tray in front of you; the type of needle that you choose will depend on the patient’s age, blood collection tubes, a tourniquet, cotton balls, bandage or medical adhesive tape, and alcoholic wipes. Make sure that your blood tubes and blood culture bottles have no expired. In conclusion, every job had its own dangerous in many ways. Dangerous could happen or not it depends on you.
