I have also learned from my own children’s teachers. The way these teachers foster communication between home and school, is wonderful. As a parent, it makes me feel happy to be able to trust the teacher. I want the parents of my students to feel the same way. So, I create a welcoming environment, introducing the families to the program, building trust, being flexible, friendly, kind, and always willing to listen to any concerns parents may have. In almost every group of students, teachers face challenging behaviors. There are many societal influences on children today that influence their behavior. Children experience violence at home or are expose to it through TV shows resulting in a profound impact on them. So as a teacher, it’s important to know what is trigging the behavior of the student and to find a way to help.
Pre-kindergarteners and Preschool age children can be socially challenging individuals. They are learning how to play, interact, and communicate with others. I believe that they learn by example, by movement and participation. This is why they need a lot of fun, as well as playful learning opportunities. Children at this age are not ready to sit still and focus for a long time. I believe a lot of challenging behavior also comes from children being bored.
