The Philosophy of nursing care and the science of nursing?
Premise
The field of medicine needs to place more emphasis on the philosophy of nursing as an art of care than science.
Paragraph.
The science and art of nursing are complimentary of each other but more emphasis needs to be placed on the art of nursing because the patient who is the recipient of care benefits from the art of nursing through the bedside activities being performed by the nurse. Nurses use science to guide nursing interventions with evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes. Evidence base practice (EBP) will be of no good if the knowledge acquired is not used by the nurse to perform those bedside chores like assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.

The research in nursing creates information in this field which will explain the distinct duty of a nurse in his or her domain. The accountability of nurses can be shown skillfully when they involve the research evidence base in taking care of the patients. Research is significant for the improvement of further knowledge in nursing, it generates ideas which will explain the unique responsibility of a nurse in his or her profession. The reason why more emphasis is on the science aspect is that, when the results from research become evident, the art of nursing can then be applied. Research therefore, helps the nurses to plan for the nursing process, to predict what could be the predictable result of a nursing care, and avoid the unnecessary results. A competent and efficient nurse utilizes every available nursing knowledge to provide holistic care. In addition, the knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and many others, are very important for the caring nurse. Nowadays, evidence based practice (EBP) is the hallmark of every nursing practice as such, scientific research must be conducted and validated before it is used at bedside on
