“I believe we are not in a struggle for the soul of the church, or for faithfulness to the Scriptures…” (Braaten). The ministers of God have become more people pleasers pretending to please God and are guided by the fear of man. However, Servants are inspired by the fear of the Lord and by serving others. Servants of Jesus Christ tend to leave disapproval or approval for God to judge. Jesus is the best example of a servant leader in ministry in Matthew13:14–17, “He instructs His disciples: If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.” My philosophy of ministry and most important is to be servants leaders, love the people of God as God loves them, make disciples by not just the classroom …show more content…
As a ministry we have the responsibility to care for the people of God, scripture tells us, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world” James 1:27. In addition, Jesus said, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me” we have a responsibility to care for the things God cares for. This is ministry, Jesus ministered and had no concerns for himself but for …show more content…
God loved us just as we are, he does not require that we come to him holy and righteous. Generally, the church has placed restrictions on those who come to church observing the outward and not focusing in on the inward. The mission of the church has become, to groom the outward to look like we think it should, but God loves and waits. There was a time when we all were enemies of God yet he loved us, watched over us, and kept us until we surrender to his Lordship. The ministry of God is pray have patience and love his people beyond what we see. Just as God has drawn us with loving kindness we must be like God and draw with kindness. John MacArthur list summarizing how pastors are to take care of sheep is a good foundation for all to follow: love the sheep, feed the sheep, rescue the sheep, attend and comfort the sheep, guide the sheep, guard and protect the sheep and watch over the sheep. Ministry should be a place of safety from the past although, God allows situations to happen in our lives for a testimony of what he did to bring us out so who are we to stop or hinder God’s plans for people. We are to pray and wait for God’s hands to move on the individual and when he’s ready to draw them to him. We are not to judge but with open arms receive them and love them as Christ loves us. Acts 20:28 says, “Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers,

Give examples of how the practice of ministry has affected your experience and understanding of A) God At the core of my understanding of God is a God of love in covenantal relationship with God’s children. Romans 8:38-39 says it well; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The practice of ministry has only proven to strengthen that belief. I was called early Saturday morning to sit with a family who had just learned of the death of their daughter/granddaughter in a vehicle accident.…

Week Three Devotional God is in the people business and the command is simple; go, baptize, and teach. Why? Because Jesus, being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God, said so. The slave is not greater than the Master and as His bond servants, our obedience is not optional but is a requirement. “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom 10:17 KJV). Servant leadership crosses lines with Christianity and culture in many aspects. The expected behaviors represent a meaningful matching that servant leadership share with Christianity and culture. In other words, servant leadership, Christianity, and culture are predictable to have satisfactory results with their followers. Over the course of this class we have discussed the fivefold ministry and the different aspects of each ministry. I like to think of ministry like fingers- they all have separate tasks but together, one ultimate purpose. As written in Ephesians 4:12-13, the fivefold ministry’s purpose is “to prepare Gods people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” This means that a person may not only be called to preach but also to be an apostle as well. Followers of Christ need to remember not to let themselves be absorbed with the titles that they hold, but to be servants to all like Jesus.…

As a minister, I feel it is my job to communicate, in word and deed, the unchanging Gospel to the modern generation in ways that help people to understand Christ clearly. Early on in my Christian walk it was apparent to not only me, but also to those in leadership roles within the church – elders, ministers, etc. – that there was a call upon my life to enter the ministry. I was quickly taken under the guidance of the lead Preacher in my local…

Pastors must be servant-leaders and not lord it over their flock. Gregory presents important points with much wisdom that pastors would do well to follow as an example. There are some (many) who should not be in pastoral ministry because they lead their flock astray. This is due to the fact that there are pastors who do not have sound doctrine which leads to wolves invading the flock. One must be called into pastoral ministry by God in order to do this important work.…

The believer now has the responsibility to serve others within the community of faith. The perfect example of true servant-hood is Christ Himself. He lived a life free from enslaving lusts and instead chose to be a slave to the needs of others. The Holy Spirit is the power behind the believer’s ability to serve and bear fruit. As believers serve one another by being controlled by the Spirit, it will then effect the lives of the other believers, causing them to bear fruit in their own lives.…
