Aman allows the PTA to set the agenda for the meet however, she requires at least 30 minutes to review her report. Ms. Aman also sends her report to the PTA secretary the week before the meeting for the vice-president to review. Ms. Aman provides the following information: the current state of the school (demographics), the number of teacher openings, operational budget, areas of improvement and information for the community. Ms. Aman also stated that the report that she provides to the PTA gives them the opportunity to see how they can use the information to support the school from their position. Aman reveals that whether you are an experience principal or first year assistant principal ones decision making skills are vital to their career success. It is relatively easy to make decisions that are a clear choice between right and wrong. However, there are times when certain decision that require a more in-depth process.
One of the most complex decisions that Ms. Aman made this year was to decide what grade level to place Justin Miller on. Mr. Miller interviews at West Millbrook Middle School for the position as an 8th grade Social Studies teacher. The interview with Mr. Miller went well therefore as a result the position was offered to you. The concern came in when Ms. Aman had to determine what grade level team to place Justin on. There were a number of factors to consider when making this decision. Although, Justin accepted the position for 8th grade Ms. Aman considered moving an underperforming 7th grade teacher Mr. Jones to the 8th grade therefore, placing Justin on the 7th grade team. Currently there were no African-American teacher in the 8th grade therefore, the consideration to move the 7th grade Social Studies teacher would add this diversity to the team. Consequently, moving Mr. Jones to the 8th grade there is hesitation that these teachers would draw him into their circle of noncompliance. Whereas, Justin displayed a high level of confidence Ms. Aman sensed that he would not get drawn into the noncompliance. In addition, Ms. Aman expressed that the 7th
