Philosophy Of A Celebrity Chef

As an adult I look back on my childhood and instantly I am able to recognize my inner teacher. I was never the kid to answer, “I am going to be a teacher” when someone asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. But I was the kid that baked in the kitchen with my grandmother and acted out my own show on the Food Network. If you have ever watched the Food Network, then you know that those celebrity chefs are teaching their audiences how to cook. The aspect that appealed to me was not the cooking, but the teaching. As I grew up I became interested in art and of course I would sit in my room for hours “teaching” my imaginary friends (and occasionally any pet, stuffed animal or person that would sit still long enough), how to paint and draw just …show more content…
I would specifically enjoy teaching high school life skill students. They are equivalent to golden rays of sunlight. that have an energy in them that fills my heart with so much joy. I currently volunteer at The Baytown Art League. Every Tuesday night, I teach an art class for special needs students. The students range from the age of 22 to the oldest being in his 50s! Each student is so special and unique. Additionally, two of the students in this class were part of the PALs program so I have had the incredible opportunity to watch them grow and succeed for the past two years. Obviously, serving them again is an indescribable …show more content…
I hesitated to include this in my paper because it really isn’t so important that I have time off. In fact, I have already begun to brainstorm ways I could offer art classes in the community. My goal is to create some sort of summer program where I could continue to teach and be involved. The vacation time is a huge benefit though. I am family orientated and plan on having a large family. I think it will be great to have that extra time to make memories with the people I love most. It really hit me when my brother had his baby and considered going back to get his teaching certification because as an accountant he didn’t have time to spend with his family. I cannot imagine a life where I am not spending every available moment with my

After last week’s writing, I found myself in quite a fog of insecurity. Thankfully the most recent installment of YITE brought me back to the sunny side of teaching philosophy. Reading about the art of teaching was rather inspiring even. The quote from the text, “approaching instruction in a variety of ways to provide multiple paths for students to both learn the content and develop the skills of the curriculum is artistry (pg 147),” caught my attention. Often in my life I have gotten the impression that some people consider the position of a teacher as that of merely a figurehead, an adult to put in front of a group of kids to keep them occupied.…

I knew from a young age that teaching was what I was meant to do. Shadowing a teacher for a day in eight grade cemented for me that I was going to be a teacher. While the age of the student I was wanting to teach has changed as I've gotten older that drive to teach has never left. Working as an Educational Assistant at St. Louis Community College has only poured gasoline on that fire and passion for teaching. I can no longer put off pursuing my education to become a mathematics professor.…

“For very young children, making art -- or just talking about it- provides opportunities to learn words for colors, shapes, and actions” (Lynch). It is vital for a child to learn the importance of art early in their life so that they can choose whether or not they will be dedicated to pursue a career involving art skills. Learning about these basic forms of art at an early age gives children more insight in preparation for their educational life. “Although some may regard art education as a luxury, simple creative activities are some of the building blocks of child development” (Lynch). Students involved in simple creative activities within their peers can affect their emotional status and gives a more comforting feeling being around others that have similar qualities of enjoyment.…
