Failure At Something Or Never Attempt It In The First Place Essay

For the philosophical dialogue I asked the philosophical question: “Is it worse to fail at something or never attempt it in the first place?” I asked this question mainly because in science, scientists have to take risks and often fail many times before they succeed. The scientific world would be very different if scientist never attempted to do half of the things they did. Trial and error are key factors in scientific discoveries. My thoughts about this subject before I entered the dialogue were that I think it is worse to never attempt it in the first place. By not attempting to do something, that person is already surrendering to failure. Attempting anything has a higher chance of success than not attempting at all. Failure is a step we must all take to reach success. The world was not created in a day.
My dialogue partner also believes that never attempting is worse than failing at something. They believe that one may not know what could happen. One can succeed at something even when all odds point to failure. When one does not attempt in the first place, they are missing out on possible discoveries. If you never take that leap of faith, how are you to know what lies below.
To further enrich the dialogue, I asked “When you fail, is all the effort put into doing that something worthless?” My

I asked “Has there been a time when it was worse to fail than having to try in the first place?” At first they laughed and said yes, realizing that they had just contradicted their previous statements. Then they said that although they had wished they had never tried in the first place, they are glad they did because now they know what not to do. By knowing what failed then, helps them not repeat the same mistake that will lead to failure. They saw their failure as valuable experience that lead to new unexpected

In the chapter 9 of the book “Think Like a Freak”, the authors showed the readers about the upside of quitting. In the book “Think Like a Freak”, S.Levitt and S.Dubner pointed out that sometimes things did not work or happen like we expect, so most of the time people keep trying and trying to make it worth. However, thinking like a Freak shows the readers the opposite way is that trying to quit when it is necessary. I think this is the smart thought when people are pushed to death ends on the way to find solutions. There are so many reasons to make people should think quitting is better than keep trying without knowing way out.…

It’s a wonderful evening at Chick-fil-A this is Reagan, how can I serve you? These words will be sketched into my brain for the remainder of my life. Even though those words are associated with many failures and obstacles, they represent the great things that transpired from those struggles. I believe that I develop from both my successes and my failures, but there is a certain, a very special, kind of learning that comes from failure. Failures are relative, to academics, family wishes, personal goals, or cultural beliefs.…

During difficult, trying times some people feel helpless and give up way too easily. Others somehow find enough strength to find solutions to their problems. Whether giving up is done consciously or unconsciously, one thing for sure is that the outcomes are two immensely distinct scenarios. A door of hope is permanently shut when the will to try is lost. On the other hand, when we hold on a bit longer and have that small push—a voice that says, “keep going,” the possibilities are endless.…

“Luck is not chance- It’s Toil- Fortune’s expensive smile Is Earned” – Emily Dickinson I have chosen a relatively philosophical problem to discuss. We find a lot of people giving up on their pursuits and goals. As subtle as this may seem, if one thinks about it, just one person giving up on a single pursuit because the going got tough, can have an exponential amount of consequences.…

Society constantly progresses at a rate unfathomable to even individuals 20 years ago. The catalyst for such progression? Discoveries. Moreover, discoveries which occur through calculated predictions, or most importantly unexpected results/mistakes or risks. Moreover, if it wasn't for mistakes and taking risks our society wouldn't have gotten to its current state; for mistakes can help people view past discoveries in a different angle or reveal flaws which we can improve upon.…

If we fail the first time we just need to try again until we can achieve those desires. In addition, the route we may have taken before or someone else has taken before may not be the same route we take the next time or the route that works for us. Every situation is different, but that just means it’s a different adventure each time.…

Philosophy is more prevalent in some people than in others and the level at which we interact with our surroundings differs too. The Allegory of the Cavemen and the Good Brahmins Voltaire seek to depict how society, norms, environment, history and religion play a role in either ensnaring or enlightening people and how the past, present and future are all shaped by philosophy. The Apology and Allegory of Cave Readings is a tale that is initially set in a dark cave where nothing else seems to exist besides the men who are chained together with no freedom of movement, speech or reason. The Brahmins Voltaire is a story that is set in a normal world were the haves and the have not’s live side by side, governed by the same rules of nature but however…

Hopeless Humanity An Analysis of a Colin Wilson Quote Colin Wilson was once quoted as saying, "The average man is a conformist, accepting miseries and disasters with the stoicism of a cow standing in the rain. " While this quote can be interpreted many different ways, like most quotes, I think that Wilson is trying to say humans sometimes lose hope and let whatever happens happen to them. Most of the time this Wilson quote rings surprisingly true when you examine the average life of a normal human being. In some cases, we see individuals with an abundance of perseverance and determination that will stop at nothing to get what they believe they deserve.…

Everyone has a different perspective and interpretation about failure. Some people see failure as an unpleasant thing or a limitation of their capabilities, while others see failure as a learning opportunity or a guide on how to become better. For example, in the article, “Want to Get Into College? Learn to Fail,” the author, Angel B. Perez, implies that failure should not be feared because it is not as harmful as most people think it is. He points out that failure is necessary if we want to succeed in college and in life.…

About a week ago I turned on the television and the news was on. When it came on it was talking about the Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock, and how the shooting could have been prevented. The news stated the he had some sort of Autism or Asperger’s, the man bought ten suitcases into his hotel room and had the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door for three days. Finally, the night of the Route 91 Harvest music festival he shot a security guard. Then he shot out of his hotel room window toward the concert killing fifty-eight people and injuring about five-hundred people.…

It's better to take the risks to make life more fun in ways you can't think of. If we didn't take risks in life we wouldn’t have any fun and we wouldn't have any inventions and the world would be in stone age again, But we did take risks and now we are venturing into the future. I know that if we didn't take risks our world would be safer, but the people that took a risk made history like Thomas Edison who made the first light bulb. It is better to take risks and make mistakes because you can learn from your mistakes, you can achieve more, and you can learn about what you like and dislike. First, its good for taking risk is because we can learn from our mistakes.…
