Philip's Meaning In 'Nothing But The Truth'

Nothing but the Truth Is Philip’s lying going to cause the worst for the other characters in the book? In Nothing but the Truth, Philip’s lying causes the worst things possible for everyone. Because of their actions Philip, Ted Griffin, and Mr. Malloy are the blame for the ending of Nothing but the Truth. Because of Philip’s attitude and lying, he is the biggest reason for how the ending occurred how it did. Philip hums the National Anthem to get on Miss Narwin’s nerves. Philip was clearly out to get at Miss Narwin and did not like her at all. He hummed to draw attention to himself and cause a disruption in class. He refused to apologize to Miss Narwin when he easily could have. Philip could have prevented the whole situation by just apologizing, be he had to make it difficult. He has a bad relationship with Miss Narwin, and part of that is because of his F in english class. Philip’s lying causes problems in the story that are very severe, and could be prevented by just telling the truth. …show more content…
He listens to Philip’s lies and believes them without hearing Miss Narwin’s side of the story. When he hears about Philip’s situation, he jumps all over it. He does this so he can use this to get elected for the school board. Ted Griffin then tells Jennifer Stewart about Philip and she spreads the false news everywhere. She writes an article in the paper explaining what had happened and it was all a lie. A bunch of different talk shows and newspapers picked up on this and started spreading the information they had heard.
