4.4.2 Market Potential The printing and publishing industry of the Philippines currently caters primarily to the domestic market, but is slowly discovering a potential market abroad. According to Hoover's Online, publishing is a $750 billion business worldwide, and is led by major publishing houses such as Random House, Simon and Schuster, Bantam Doubleday Dell, and Time-Warner. According to the World Book Report 1998, book sales alone reached nearly $75 billion in 1996 in the top 20 markets in the world. These markets are led by the USA, Germany, Japan, United Kingdom, and France.34
