Philip Knight's Career

In 1964, cofounder Philip Knight discovered Nike(Nike 's). Him and his partner both invested $500 into the business hoping they would make a profit. Philip Knight received a degree in journalism at the University of Oregon, and then enlisted in the army(Nike 's). After being in the army for one year he decided to go back to school and get a degree in business at Standford Univeristy. One of Knights assignments was to make a business. He came up with and idea to buy shoes from Japan where the shoes were high quality and it would cost a low amount to produce. Knights plan was to sell high quality affordable shoes to the Oregon track runners. When Ford was 16 he left his family farm and went into town and to get a job(Wooster). His first job was working as a machinist and then later as an engineer. He liked taking things apart and putting things back together. He created his first propelled vehicle called the: Ford Quadricycle (Wooster). With the help of Thomas Edison, he kept experimenting. By 1909, Henry had found two car companies and both of them had failed(Wooster). He borrowed $28,000 and created the Model T car. Ford created the first affordable car. He also known as the first to have assembly lines in his factories. In his factories he didn 't over work or underpay his workers(Wooster). According to Huffington Post, he has given back $105 million of his $9.5 billion that he has that is less than 1%. Nike is known to have poor working conditions in their factories. Knight has taken advantage of the poor people in the third world countries. He has not offered the people in his factories education, or better living conditions. By having poor working conditions and low wages it has only hurt Knight 's business. People started to protest and boycott his products. Henry Ford was known as the 'Captain of Industry '. Ford hired workers that were handicapped and mentally disabled, and his wages were higher than anyone else 's. He cared about others, rather than himself. He gave back to a lot of charities and even has a hospital named after him. Henry created the first affordable car so that everyone could have access. He was known as being good for the economy. Ford had a big impact on people 's life 's when he was alive, because people could live off of his
