For my mid-term project I chose to do topic Four and that was to select an artist and give some brief history about him and incorporate his music and how it connects to our class. The famous classical composer I chose to select was Philip Morris Glass. I feel as though he is an artist that caught my eye and really wanted to talk about. Philip Glass was born January 31st, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland. That’s one main reason he stood out to me because he comes from an area that I grew up around. Also besides him being in the music world he also had a moving company with one of his family member’s he was also a plumber and cab driver at one point in time. He wrote operas, eleven concertos, solo works, chamber music with string quartets and instrumental sonatas, film scores also he created ten symphonies. one instrument that I believe he composed a lot for was a violin also he was very into the keyboard and piano. A violin is a part of the string family which in an orchestra they are mainly in the front row of the conductor. The first song that I listened to from my composer Philip Glass was a violin concerto No.1. During the song I heard plenty of crescendo and in the back ground the violin concerto was backed up by percussion and other orchestra instruments. I would say that this song had polyphonic and a 3 count. The second song I listened to was a cello concerto it was really slow and it had spikes in noise, also there was a horn playing in the background that had a mute on it this song had a 2 count to it. The third song I listened to a female played the same song just using a saxophone during the song I felt it was more peaceful I feel as though the orchestra drowns out most of the music but it was
