After our trip to the zoo, we were given a tour of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This tour was customized to fit what we are attempting to understand as a class. We learned about the history of animals within art, not just in modern days, but throughout history. After this tour that gave us a lot of knowledge about the depiction and symbolism of animals, we were given the task to find 3 pieces of art that “spoke to us” and describe our reaction to these works. To me there were many pieces of art that spoke to me but out of the five the three that I chose were the ones where animals were seen as a figure of humanity's success.
