My county is called Philadelphia City County, and that is in state of Philadelphia. According to the United States Census Bureau 2014, Philadelphia city county population was estimate at 518, 857 million. The female population was 460,760 which accounts for 46.0 %, the male population was 582,692 which accounts for 51.5 %, Under 5 years old 6.2%, Under 18 years old 23.0%, and 65 years or older. (United States Census Bureau, 2014). The numbers of senior citizens who are of 65 years and above are 140,935 in number (The Internet Staff, 2014). Most of the time, obesity is caused by our inactive lifestyle in addition to poor diets that are rich in fats and sugars. Although, the main concern about being child obese is the lack of exercise as it always being connected with childhood obesity, poor attention and learning in schools. The second health concern is smoking. This is too a threat to a child’s health because it can cause very harmful diseases such as throat or lung cancers.
Children are mostly influence by friends or from seeing parents, family members, or by stars on movies or television smoking, these factors have being blamed for the increase in underage smoking because most of the children have access to the internet which is believed to advertise the drugs (Kiesbye, 2008).
Policy makers, health care professionals and the government have put in place laws, procedures and policies to control and curb the increase in child obese in the county. For example, the state policy makers, schools, and families have teamed up together to let children walk to school rather that being drive to school by car or dropped by bus. Parents have been instructed to help discouraged their kids from watching too much television or playing too much video games.
