Connecting this back to the Air Jordan 1s, I remembering seeing a Converse commercial that featured both NBA Hall Of Fame stars Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird in the documentary. In the commercial they used logos to show the two great basketball players having their own signature shoe and that idea relates back to the Air Jordan 1 because it also was a big key factor in the birth of the sneaker culture. Putting this all into context, Magic, Bird, and Jordan were all big contributors to helping the sneaker culture becoming as popular as it has ever been today. In the documentary, they also talk about how some people have a love for collecting these shoes and how they can have a bright future with their passion of sneakers. Examples they include are by having many shoe collectors selling their collection they accumulated over the years in their sneaker shop.…
Thank you for your contribution to my post. The primary reason I selected the Donald Sterling case as the topic of my first assignment was not due to the headlines it generated, but for the leadership style Adam Silver exemplified throughout the ordeal. In any profession, we are all looking for leaders to emulate. Silver defines his leadership style as “honest, transparent and direct”, all characteristics that I would describe as the recipe of an esteemed leader (Klosterman, 2014)). I agree that Silver’s illustration of emotional courage is to be commended.…
The leading of a team or group is not a simple task but involves real life skills that take time, thinking and commitment. The role of leadership is an essential aspect of an organization since it can determine the difference between success and failure. “Although leaders are gifted in different ways, with different personalities and varying skill sets, all leaders can grow, become more skillful, and become more competent so that they can achieve greater effectiveness” (Ledlow & Coppola, 2014, pp. 10). At times, leadership may seem overwhelming and complicated, but by concentrating on specific fundamentals they will find that they can guide the team with the assurance and competence. There no one style of leadership, in fact, there are several…

Knight who own the company Nike values great salespeople and does not directly tell them what to do. Instead, he provides them with the means to achieve the goals of the company, and favors hiring people that have actively participated in sports. Knight hires his top executives as those that as athletes, strive for quality shoes to enhance whatever sport they are playing. Thus, the difference between Nike’s leadership and management styles is that the leader plays more of a background. With the management style can be situational.…
Effective leadership could contribute to the success of change. Leadership plays an important role in mobilizing organizational change, as can be seen in the Kodak case. According to the trait theory, effective leadership should have some key traits. Generic traits of the leaders might be similar, for example, Carp and Perez have some common traits such as job-relevant knowledge (Kirkpatrick and Locke, 1991). However, it cannot be easily concluded that traits alone are sufficient for effective leadership or the absence of some of these traits make them any less leader, because trait theory ignore the interaction between leaders and their followers as well as other situational factors (Robbins and Coulter, 2002).…

After looking through the inventories and the feedback I had received about my communication skills, I have found some communication skills I am quite effective at and some I should work on a little bit. My strengths seem to be listening, seeming alert, and being empathetic. People who gave me feedback said that they felt good when they spoke to me because they knew I was truly listening to their messages. I seemed alert by making eye contact, asking questions, and having a polite mannerism.…
