Phi Theta Kapp Character Analysis

Improved Essays
I was inducted in Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) in the Fall of 2015. Ever since then, I have been not only a member, but an active member. Learning, experience and leadership are good experiences that I have gained as an active member of PTK. Through these meetings, I learned a variety of soft skills such as public speaking, communication, team building, event planning, conflict management, and so on. More specifically, I was honing these skills through PTK's extracurricular experiences, such as Charles River Clean Up, Blood Drive, etc. From a shy and ordinary student with an ambiguous future, I transformed into an outgoing, active and highly motivated person. If it wasn’t because of Phi Theta Kappa, I would not have given myself a push to get out

In Kapusitchka by A.M. Klein, the essence of friendliness is captured by the grandmother. She occupies herself with “knit[ting] socks” during the cold winters, while “see[ing] holy men who come from Europe… [as] [she] wears a perruque”(45). During the cold dark nights, “she would kitzu-kitzu [Kapusitchka] into the shed, and spread out empty coal-sacks for him to lie on”; the grandmother was then becoming good friends with the furry creature(45).…

There is never a day when I don't look at myself in amazement. That is because I am still surprised that I did not quit the Phi Theta Kappa officer team. Even though I keep myself from having emotional breakdowns on campus, there were days I questioned why I am still an officer. If anybody told me that I would be a chapter officer of an internationally proclaimed honor society, I would smile while laughing hysterically in my head. I barely could talk in front of a crowd, let alone lead an entire chapter.…

Incoming students wonder if they will fit in and do well enough to stay in a university. In his New York Times article, “Conquering the Freshman Fear of Failure,” David L. Kirp explains that he believes several freshman doubt themselves, their social skills, and their ability to do well in college. In this article, David L. Kirp effectively argues that this cycle of doubt can make students more likely to drop out of school and that universities need to step in and encourage students through his use of ethos, logos, and pathos.…

As such, not being admitted into such this prestigious organization led me to believe that I was not capable of more. I had met all of the criteria except for one—demonstrating academic leadership—which, consequently, led me to call into question everything I was doing and whether or not my time was being wasted. I noticed that, among everything else I had to juggle with at the time, I was overwhelmed with caring for my three siblings, practicing karate every day, maintaining my involvement in my local church, and keeping my grades high: responsibilities I held that I…

Hardworking, trustworthy, selfless, determined, and helpful… I believe that I have demonstrated these qualities exceptionally throughout my high school career. A glimpse at my exquisite grades that I have kept in four years of challenging classes reveals not only my effort, but my endless determination as well. Despite all of the energy that I directed towards my own success at school, I was always willing to help others who struggled in their classes, especially in math and science. Also, I put time and effort into my extracurricular activities in order to benefit my school’s community. I painted a mural of the Mt. Hope Bridge to beautify a conference room, helped plan countless events for the entire student body, from spirit weeks to…
