Title: The effect of phenoxyethanol on plant growth
Question: Is phenoxyethanol, a preservative for several cosmetic products, improve the rate of plant growth on lima beans?
Hypothesis: If the phenoxyethanol is mixed with the soil that is given to a lima bean plant, the plant will continue to grow. Based on following research I believe the lima bean plant will grow at the same rate as the control group because according to the classification scale of Hodge and Sterner, “Phenoxyethanol is practically nontoxic when administered orally or dermally to rats.” This means that it could be a nontoxic chemical (therefore harmless) to other organisms, such as a lima bean plant.
