It is used to explain how increasing technology is creating a shift from production economies to information services as well as the changes in the way we think about money. He argues that money emerged to quantify one’s obligation to repay another, rather than emerging as a form of bartering power. Essentially that debt existed before money not as a result as, in order to specifically express obligation. There is an obligation to repay debt as it is an obligation that you owe someone, if you agree to help someone it is unlikely you would follow through and thus the same principles should apply to debt. It goes against basic societal rule to not pay back debt and is immoral as debt is an obligation and it is unfair on the other party if you forgo this obligation and it will likely fall back on someone
