Jim’s Spaghetti Have you ever been to the phenomenal restaurant over in Huntington known as Jim’s Steak and Spaghetti House? Well if you have not, I’m sure you have heard about it. Jim’s is a wonderful environment for you, your friends, and your family! People come from all over to get their famous spaghetti and a homemade slice of pie. Jim’s has a wonderful selection of food, amazing staff, and not to mention the place has a historical theme that hasn’t changed much since they opened in the 1940s. Right when you walk in you are greeted by a lovely hostess saying, “hello and welcome to Jim’s Spaghetti!” There is hardly ever a long wait unless it is a special occasion so you are seated

Jim’s is mainly known for their famous spaghetti. It is made with their “secret sauce” and you can either get a small, medium or large and it comes with a side salad. If you were to make a replica of their secret sauce it could take up to 3 hours and 20 minutes to make and I’m sure it will not taste just like Jim’s. There’s just nothing like Jim’s spaghetti! With every meal you get a choice of rolls, white bread, banana nut bread or a mixture of them all. Just in case people are not a fan of spaghetti, they have other choices of foods including sandwiches like hamburgers and grilled cheese, along with grilled chicken, ravioli, and many other things! Fish is another top seller other than spaghetti. The haddock Fish sandwich is coated in a buttermilk and cracker meal batter then fried until a golden brown and topped with homemade tartar sauce and a toasty bun. They sell anywhere from 200- 300 pieces of fish a day and this amount rises especially during lent. Lent is a time of fasting and preparation for Easter. This is a huge event that attracts not only the local people, but people hours away! The amount of people coming in to get pies grows every year. Many people stand in a line, all the way down the street, for hours to get a slice of the delicious, strawberry pie. The people at Jim’s started strawberry pie week forty years ago and made around 5,000 pies. Now it has grown to where they are making an average of 10,530. The business was passed down to Jimmy Tweel-Carder who is now 72-years-old. In an interview, she talked about how stressful this week is on her but what gets her through is knowing her dad is looking down and saying, “make sure everyone is happy.” Even though it is a stressful week for her and her staff members, the smile on everyone’s face makes it all worth
