When working as a technician you are required to be register with the Louisiana board of pharmacy. You also need to obtain you certificate you must first earn at least 600 hours of practical on hands on experience to have your pharmacy licensed in Louisiana. You will also need the hours to pass the state approved exam. When you about to obtain your 600 hours you would need to get your pharmacy technician candidate registration. Before you ready to apply for the pharmacy technician certificate you will have to fill out and submit an application for Louisiana pharmacy technician …show more content…
There are certification requirements for pharmacy technician is the national certification is recognized in Louisiana from the PTCB. When you a pharmacy technician you are required to pay the associated fees for the pharmacy technician candidate registration, criminal background check, pharmacy technician certification, and the pharmacy technician certification that are annual renewal. There are many examples of activities you can perform under your scope of practice for a pharmacy technician. Pharmacy technician are allowed to prepare and prepackage drugs for dispensing drugs. There are also allowed to replenish drug storage containers and dispensing machines. They are also allowed to enter prescription information into a database. Pharmacy technician should be able to ask for and receive a refill authorization from a practitioner on an existing prescription without any changes to the prescription as originally prescribed. Pharmacy technician are allow to identify drug related problems that require a referral to a pharmacy. You are also allowed to dispense a drug if the supervising pharmacist has approved filling the prescription and the supervising pharmacist counsels the patient.
