A quick review on when the Pharmacy Technician Educators Council began was August 1989 in Columbia, South Carolina. The first conference was nothing to big yet and was organized as a networking information sharing experience for technician educators held by Don Ballington. Now it is a national organization spreading helpful information all around the world. It’s latest Annual meeting was last held July 9th 2015 handed out awards. The next Annual meeting will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina in July on the 14th through the 16th, 2016. Statement made from the Chairman Mike Johnson, “A mission statement without actions and result is worthless.” It all began in February 1999 in Houston, Texas and later within that year they opened their Corporate Office in November. Then just few short months they had their first Annual Convention and was in July of 2000. There hasn’t been any word on having another annual meeting since 2005, but you also have to be a member to receive more up to date information. I do know they hold courses to further your knowledge within the pharmacy and the next class will be held on April 7, 2016. There are some interesting benefits from becoming a member like a magazine – Today’s Technician and The Premier Journal for Pharmacy Technicians. Each issue of Today’s Technician includes a minimum of 2 hours of ACPE-accredited CE for certified Pharmacy Technicians. In addition, NPTA publishes from time to time and it also has members only discounts, Training, Career Development, an Advocacy Efforts.

They were both created for pharmacy technicians and that something to be excited about. As Pharmacy technician all around the world it is super exciting to know that they’re people in the world that go out of their way to create organizations for technicians to grow and to learn from each and every day. They both open up more opportunities to grow as a better technician and to also have a chance to become a leader in the pharmacy world. It gives pharmacy technician the chance to be rewarded for new and better ideas they may come up with. These organizations can be fun and they help the little guys meet with the bigger guys! These organizations’ have a lot of great reference for all members to learn from and to also grow in the technician field. Everywhere we turn there is more exciting information out there to help us grow as people and we should never lose hope in ourselves and our futures, because the world is huge and filled opportunities.
