I am writing to express my strong interest in the PGY1 pharmacy practice residency program at the University of North Carolina Medical Center (UNCMC). I have had the pleasure to meet you, Dr. Rao, and some of the current PGY1 residents at the ASHP Mid-Year Clinical Meeting; where we went through a very informative overview of the PGY1 residency program at UNCMC and I have had a great discussion with the PGY1 residents. As you may know, I am a fourth-year student at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and I am interested in pursuing a pharmacy practice residency that would help me to achieve my career goals and to work as a faculty member as well as a clinical pharmacist in cardiology back in Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Then, I worked as a faculty member (i.e. teaching assistant) in the Pharmacy Practice Department at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) in KSA, which included academic, research, and clinical duties. During which, I developed my teaching, research, and clinical skills, and became more interested in Clinical Pharmacy education. Since KSAU-HS was affiliated with the National Guard Health Affairs Hospital, I was fortunate enough to get the chance to have a couple of clinical rotations that helped further develop my clinical knowledge and skills. Then, I decided to join the University of Illinois at Chicago to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy degree where my clinical knowledge expanded dramatically, improved my time management and communication skills, worked effectively on interdisciplinary teams, and enjoyed studying and working in a very diverse community.
