Pharmacist code of ethics
I found the code of ethics for Pharmacists online at http://www.pharmacist.com/code-ethics. I think the code level is practical and it is very obvious that the 8 codes are achieved most of the time through diligent effort. For example: one code of the codes states “A pharmacist seeks justice in the distribution of health resources”, it reveals that being honest and fair is a code for living before being a code for pharmacists. I know the pharmacists too would wish to be treated with fairness and equality as they are required to treat their patients. Privacy has to do with patient rights to control the sharing of their protected health information. That limit includes the sharing of paper, electronic data and verbal sharing with anyone except those directly involved in health care. The pharmacist was careless when he decided to provide counseling to an HIV-positive patient by shouting across the counter. By committing that reaction, he broke his promise to follow the high standards of professional conduct. Also, he violated the ethical principles, which emphasizes that pharmacist should respect the conventional relationship between him and the patients. Protecting the patients’ privacy must be part of the day-to-day work of all employees who have access to patient information. I believe that the patient was affected emotionally especially if she didn't want anyone to know about her disease and feel that her coworker may know, she may feel embarrassed. Also, the patients waiting in the line may also be affected by the pharmacist unethical verbal way of talking. We can't forget that the failure by pharmacist to follow the code of ethics (disrespecting the privacy of the patient) and acting unethically could result in losing the patient’s trust, and in some situations pharmacists may end up losing their jobs and get fired for breaking the code, as well as the pharmacy may itself be put
