I have extensive experience in verbal communication. As a pharmacy resident, I must communicate with other pharmacists, medical doctors, students, and patients every day. I take pride in my ability to adapt information to the receiver, as in order for everyone to understand the same information it may be necessary to present it differently. Public speaking is another area in which I have had vast training. I am required to present a minimum of one major case presentation per rotation to the pharmacy department, as well as the medical staff at times. I have given numerous in-services to medical residents and physician assistants at my institution. I had the opportunity to execute a clinical pearl presentation at a NYCSHP meeting this past month. Currently, I am in the process of obtaining a teaching certificate through St. John’s University College of Pharmacy. I have experience co-precepting pharmacy students on clinical rotations, and am scheduled to teach students in a case study class during the Spring semester. I believe I have very good time management skills. I always have a to-do list so that no task is ever overlooked. I know how to prioritize, and even more important as a resident, I know how to re-prioritize. Even with tight deadlines, I never allow my work to suffer by always creating realistic timelines and planning ahead. As for supervisory skills, my program consists of seven pharmacy residents and I am the chief pharmacy resident. I am in charge of final reporting on a number of tasks, including monthly adverse event reporting. This supervisory position requires a delicate balance of leadership and teamwork.
