“Root Cause Analysis” is one method of determining the underlying reasons that something has occurred. This problem-solving technique is used in the work place, but it could also be used for evaluation or discovering true intentions. The analysis process involves a beginning statement. As a member of Health Occupations Students of America, I competed in dental terminology in the interest of diversifying my knowledge of the medical field and made it to state-level competition. I also joined a rigorous Pharmacy Technician Certification class and interned at CVS, an experience that taught me to work fast and in an organized fashion, be social with colleagues and customers, and teamwork skills such as assisting a customer or answering phone calls for co-workers. These responsibilities taught me to make use of time and be more social. This environment was amazing to me because I had always wanted to understand how a pharmacy is managed. In the end, I passed the state exam to become a certified Pharmacy…

I was introduced into the pharmacy setting by being a part of a health science program in high school, and every week I would go to Walgreen’s pharmacy for training to become a certified pharmacy technician. After getting used to the college environment, I decided to volunteer at St. Joseph’s Pharmacy during my second semester of my freshmen year. The time that I spent at St. Joseph’s pharmacy helped me find my interests and skills in this profession and has motivated me to become a dependable pharmacist that patients can trust. The pharmacists at St. Joseph Pharmacy are really passionate about what they do, and I can tell that they truly enjoy interacting with every patient.…

Even though going through the process and becoming a volunteer was very excessive at times, I really am enjoying it. I like the people I get to be around and figuring out the effects of medicine. It’s interesting to learn about how patients are affected by pharmacists. Many people think that physicians do most of the work, but pharmacists correct a lot of situations. I love learning more and more about how to address and work with patients.…

In my early years of high school, I considered going to Pharmacy school at the University of Kansas, which although expensive, would be more reasonable for myself as a Kansas resident. When I took Chemistry my sophomore year, I quickly came to realize that a profession which will require chemistry daily is not a profession fit for me. Contrarily, I became more involved with the Beaver Broadcasting Network (BBN), and Mr. Holt gave me opportunities to explore the world of Sports Media, resulting in my passion growing. Eventually becoming the main sports anchor for the BBN, I quickly became more comfortable on the sidelines and interviewing athletes.…

It is appealing to know that I can go to work during the day and help others by ensuring their medication will not cause any allergies, interactions, or any other harm. Then at night, I will be able go home and help my family. Today, pharmacists also have the opportunity to work only weekend shifts; therefore, I could accomplish my dream profession while being able to include more family time. This part of the profession really stood out to me because it will allow me, a female and hopefully one day a mother, to have not only a professional life but a personal life as…

I’m still steering towards the research and work at the industry level. The work at the community pharmacy seemed very monotonous and didn 't have much variation. I did like the patient interaction. I recognize the importance and role that the community pharmacy plays because the pharmacist is the last step in the patients’ health care. They are the last medical professional that the patient can talk too about their treatment, concerns and symptoms.…

IPPE 1 Reflection My IPPE 1 experience went relatively well. Already having worked in a community pharmacy setting, I knew what to expect and felt that there really was little to gain. Going into the rotation, I was somewhat bitter that I would be losing 3 weeks of my time to work in a setting I already have been working in. By the end of the rotation however, I did end up gaining at least some valuable experience and insight that I did not receive in my previous work experience.…

On November 14th, 2016 I went back to acute care at Moses Cone. My job for the day was to be the Medication Nurse. So when we were getting report from the leaders, I was assigned 4 patients. Going into the clinical day, I was sort of nervous just because I did not know what the day was going to be like and also because I had not been in the hospital setting, let alone an acute floor, in three weeks. So I brushed up on how clinical and reminded myself of important things that I like to do throughout the day to better a patients stay.…
