Personally, I think health care is a field of study with lots of opportunities that can promise an excellent career and pharmacy is considered as one of the major branch of health care practice. I believe that the field of pharmacy is always going to be under constant growth with the inventions of new drugs going on. I believe this is an era of research and development. I have always had admired pharmacy because of the rewards that it has to offer. These rewards come in different forms like respect, appreciation, pride and of course good compensation. As a pharmacist I’ll be exposed to different career opportunities. I have always had a keen interest in Biology since High School. Laboratories and Experiments have always fascinated me. I have often participated in science fairs. I also enjoyed studying organic chemistry. I have achieved Bachelors in Arts from Rutgers University in NJ. I majored in Biological Science and minored in Public Health. Minoring in public health was my personal interest. It turned out to be very informative in terms of community health care. Besides my education I also have a good amount of professional background that will help me succeed as a pharmacist. In my second year of college I applied to a Retail pharmacy for a job and was hired as a clerk. That’s when I started to develop an interest in pharmacy. I have been working in a retail pharmacy setting for almost four and half years now. Initially I was a clerk but soon I was promoted as a technician. During my time as a pharmacy technician I have gained hands-on experience of the retail world. This may include knowledge of medicines, pharmacy services, customer care and a lot more. As a part of work, I have volunteered at flu shot clinics with the team of pharmacists. During that flu shot clinic a lot of people noticed our work and personally thanked each of us for our community service. There have been many other occasions where I have been appreciated for my service as a volunteer or as a pharmacy technician. This kind of appreciation motivates me to pursue this career.
