I went to 3 different pharmacies to see if they would accept me to do my 16 hours. The pharmacies I went to apply to are Shoppers Drug Mart located in Eglinton Square Shopping Centre, Shoppers Drug mart in parkway mall and Walmart Scarborough West Supercentre. The reason why I didn’t get accepted because they had already volunteers. I didn’t have much challenge in choosing the pharmacy to do my placement. There were about four pharmacy stores in the area that lived in. I did my 16 hours at Remedy's RX Local Drug Store located at 99 Firvalley Ct, Scarborough, which was right beside a walk-in-clinic. It was a big pharmacy department and has 3 staff and I have completed my 16 hours observation .The role of the pharmacist was to counselling the patient about their medication and patients that need help in finding the right medication over the counter for their symptoms .The role of pharmacy assistance was to stock the medication over the counter, and also refer them to …show more content…
The role of the pharmacy technician was to receive the prescription from the patient and entering it into the computer and also prepare the prescription for the patient. The pharmacy technician duties to also filing and answering phone calls from patients. The day to day activities that I observed is that the first day I went was not busy and I got to know where the drugs were located in the pharmacy by their specific by brand names and genetic names .The second day I went to do my observation I got the chance to try out the cashier and help the pharmacy Technician find specific drugs and fill out the drug for the patient.
