I am in the last year of my BSc in Physics which has helped develop my mathematics skills a lot further than at A Level. Despite this, I still use all the concepts which are used in the national curriculum on a regular basis. Prior to this, I have worked part time at a McDonald’s restaurant where I gained valuable team working skills as we were regularly working together to serve customers efficiently and we were also required to develop our communication skills, which would ensure excellent customer service as well as keeping in good contact with the rest of the staff. …show more content…
There, I had the opportunity to observe lessons as well as helping young people with any questions about the work they may have. I had the opportunity to work with different year groups of different abilities and I very much enjoyed the day. I found it very inspiring when a young person would ask me a question about a problem they did not understand and I explained it in such a way that they came away saying they understood it. One student took to answering their problem with confidence out loud in the classroom, which of course made me very happy. The idea of helping many more students in this way with many more problems underlines why I want to become a teacher.
