PetSmart strategic goal is to continue to be the largest specialty pet retailer of services and solution for the lifetime needs of pets. In order to be the largest, their focus is providing the best possible service and care to its associates, pet parents, and their pets. PetSmart’s believes in work life balance, doing the right thing is important, and incorporates this in their beliefs and values. They love pets, and believe pets make people better, and it is dedicated to do its part by creating a place where pets continue to inspire us. PetSmart’s believes in enriching people’s live through the power of pets, and by this it can achieve its mission of creating moments for people to be inspired by pets. In order for PetSmart to reach its goal of being the largest specialty pet retailer and services and solutions, they need to have objectives in order to reach these goals. These areas are what PetSmart considers as their pillars of diversity and inclusion efforts, as well as a guide of what they do in order to make their good company the greatest ("PetSmart Diversity," n.d.). The first key area is talent. The talent source is pulled from a diverse pool of candidates. PetSmart wants blue chip quality associates working for them, and will not settle for mediocrity. The second key pillar is culture. PetSmart focuses on creating a diverse and inclusive culture that includes accountability by their staff of associates. An additional goal is to communicate and be transparent as they grow their culture. The third pillar is community.
