Waiting For The End Of The World is a post-apocalyptic film about a man trying to continue his everyday life.
The establishing shot begins with Petr’s alarm going off. As he turns over in bed to snooze the alarm, the quality of the camera suddenly blurs. This technique is very smart, since it creates a realistic effect for the viewers. It takes us into Petr’s vision, and how blurred it must’ve been when first waking up.

As the card is being swiped, the screen fades to black, while a beeping sound is being heard. Just as I thought that the beeping sound was the card being swiped, the screen faded to a different scene, where Petr is snoozing his alarm once again. I thought that the editing of this transition was both very smooth and intelligent. During a certain point, Petr admits that sometimes, he doesn’t feel as if he’s the only one in the room. It took watching this short film a few more times to realize that the director had intuitively created (whether intentionally or unintentionally) a connection between Petr’s voice and the audience. Petr wasn’t alone, because the audience was watching him perform these actions all of this time. We were watching him as he thought that he was the only one who had known his routine, as well as what were in his thoughts.
