Throughout his years of life where he found God, he held his virtues very close to him because these allowed for him to do God’s will and help those who needed it. As Francis began devoting his life to God, he began to create and learn virtues that followed God’s teaching. Francis only wanted to do what was right and good to all of God’s people. Near his earlier stages of his religious life, he followed God’s orders of rebuilding churches that were wearing down. As he continued to following his virtues of following God and listening to him, he did nothing but good to those around him. Francis continued to grow spiritually and felt a calling of going out and spreading the word of the Lord to continue his habits of following the lord. If it weren't for Francis’s ability to stand to his virtues, he would not have made such an impact on the world like he has. Now he had a lot of virtues and I can’t even think of a vice that he had in his later days. Some of the good habits that allowed for him to do such good was following one of God’s most important laws; Loving everyone. Francis treated each person and all of creation as if they were all gifts from God above. His love and care for others must have been contagious because he was able to gain followers that were willing to give up everything just to follow in his footsteps to get close to God. These were things that could possibly lead to death, but that would be the least of their worries in the pagan lands. There was war and constant violence there, along with this, people were being murdered because of their religion. This made it especially dangerous for Francis’s journey there. Now with all of this in mind, Francis did not fear these lands because he trusted God and was willing to put his life on the line in order to spread the story of His life. Francis was able to put fear aside because he knew that God would be on his side no matter what happened because of his devotion and virtues that upheld his religious nature. From knowing that virtues can make one thrive and be the best that they can be can persuade institutions to set certain “values” to be practiced to ensure a better environment. For example, Saint Francis University has five core values that students and faculty should practice to ensure a religious, safe, and thriving environment. Now as these values become practiced more, they can quickly become habits/virtues for individuals on how to act around, and how to treat other people/things. Therefore by introducing a new way of living or thinking could drastically change a person, a community, or in Francis’s instance, the world. So from combining Catholic Christianity and ST.
