His main point in the paper is that students are going about getting their degrees in the wrong way. You can end up overspecialize and not having any skills that transfer over to other careers. One of his values is getting a degree and job in a field that makes you the money. He values jobs and careers that make you money over ones that will make you happy. Another value that is percent is that you should go to college. This is a pretty obvious value as it is what most of the paper is about but this is a reason why he leaves out any mention of vocation career or other careers that don't require college. A value Cappelli has in the paper is that the student graduates on time this is a value that he make prestne by saying that it is important so you can get a job in the field you study another view he has he wants the student to get a job after college .
Cappelli doesn't value a career that makes you happy the happiness is an afterthought for him he does not think it has a value in his equation for a successful job. Happiness is important to me as I dont care really how much money I’ll make as long as I am happy doing it and it fulfills me. Money is the afterthought to me as happiness take precedence. He also doesn't value the amount of stress put on a student as he expects all degree programs to be done on time wit no thought on how it affects the student. I value getting a degree I also want to do it without putting an unnecessary amount of stress on myself
