Peter Baofu Argue: Should Women Get Paid?

Decent Essays
Some critics argue the point that individuals can earn higher salaries without it being an issue. Peter Baofu, a professor at many different universities in Western Europe and a writer of his many theories on life, claims that if an individual is superior in a certain activity, they usually get paid higher than the rest of that group. He brings up this subject to show that if a group, males, is superior to another group, females, they have earned the right to be paid higher (Baofu). Mr. Baofu is correct that individuals can receive greater salaries. Even though this is true, it does not justify that males get paid higher. Each team gets paid on their success within their genders. Therefore, women should be treated the same

Susan Moller Okin believes the roles of each gender are not equal and explains in her book the many differences how men and women are treated. In a passage from her book, she indicated that women on average only earn 71% of what men earn (Chaffee 606). I agree that both women and men should be paid equally as long as the work they do is on the same level. If a woman performs a job just as well as a man in the same position, then there is no reason why she should be treated or paid any differently. I feel that all people should be paid based on their performance and experience no matter what their gender.…

Discrimination is illegal in America, and applies in work forces. The Equal Pay Act is agreeable with all the circumstances that are added. “The EPA requires, as a general rule, that men and women who work in jobs that are substantively equal in terms of skill, effort, responsibility, and working conditions shall receive the same pay” (Fugiero). The Equal Pay Act is necessary because it compensates those doing the work despite gender, evaluates work based on abilities to perform work related tasks, and gives everyone the chance to live the American dream regardless of race, gender, or age.…

Men and women have different playing styles and they do not mix well. They have been separated for a very long time and they should remain that way for many of the reasons that I have listed above. A prominent controversy relevant in modern society is the perceived wage gap between men and women. It is widely believed and accepted that women are paid less than men when the annual salaries of men and women are compared. Many people share the opinion that women are paid less than men because the system is innately sexist; however, others believe that the wage gap can be justified to reasons other than sexism. Wages have existed as long as people have been employed by other people. Pay being monetary is a development created in relatively recent history; some workers in the Middle Ages were simply paid with an amount of food and a few heads of livestock (Williams 19).…

In 2017, men still get paid more than women do, which is not fair. For the past hundred years women have fought to get the same rights as men. Women have made it pretty far, but still do not have all the same rights as men do which is ridiculous. Women get paid 77 cents to every dollar a man makes working the same amount of hours at the same job. Therefore, we should stop the wage gap by protesting, by getting more people aware of the issue and killing the stereotype that women can not do the same jobs men can do.…

Whether it is religion, sexuality, race, or even music taste, people are constantly finding ways to discriminate by differentiating people from each other. One element is gender pay gap--ever since the fall of Adam and Eve, women were always proven to be insignificant compared to men. Gender pay gap plays a negative role--socially, economically, and politically. Although the gender pay gap is a widespread problem that cannot be completely eradicated, society should be giving more of an effort into taking small steps to solving the problem so the future generations could benefit from knowing what is right -- by solving one of the most unfair stigmatized elements in society.…
