Another animal adapted to the abiotic factors of the Nudgee Beach mangrove ecosystem is the common soldier crab (Mictyris longicarpus). Crayfish are freshwater crustaceans that use their claws called chelipeds, for warning off predators. When frightened, these crayfish lift their chelipeds to make threatening gestures, all while moving backwards or staying still. We examined how long it would take for crayfish to calm down once removed from the water and if the temperature had any influence to this observation. To do this, we placed two crayfishes in room temperature water and another two in colder water for an interval of five minutes and again for ten minutes. Once the time was up,we measured how long it took for the crayfish to lower their claws.…

Both dog and cats are great to cuddle with. Dog lovers and cat lovers are very similar compared to those who skip the dogs and cats and head straight for the reptiles. People who choose to have a reptile as a pet tend to be more independent than all other pet owners. Dog and cat owners have more of that compassion and affectionate need than those who do not own a cat nor a dog. They also tend to be more dependent on other people and their pets for things such as love, trust, and security.…
