Persuasive Writing Challenges

When I first started writing, there were only two things that went into mind, giving it my best effort and hoping to get a grade that can satisfy me. Writing wasn’t always my best subject, I usually do pretty good on them at times and of course there are scenarios where it’s the opposite. Whether it came to a writing a persuasive essay or an essay out of the unexpected, such as writing based on a documentary, I felt that it really depends on what the prompt is about that determines how well I will do. Throughout the years, I learn more on how to become a better writer especially a teacher gives feedback on them. Not only it made me feel that way, but also made me think about how well will I do in a college class. I remembered when my teacher from 4th grade read my essay out loud in front of the class to help the class become a better writer. It turned out that mine didn’t benefit the class at all. Now that time has passed by, I began to realize it wasn’t as difficult as I anticipated. Yes, there were minor issues that I dealt with as I have mentioned previously, but I managed to proceeded through. After thinking back about this, I discovered that writing can sometimes be your best friend and other times it will leave you behind to figure it out on your own. And that’s something I have to accept because not always will I be assigned an essay that I’m familiar with. On the other hand, there have been several cases where I have an essay prompt that I do not understand and I end up staring at my paper for almost half of the class period. Even though if I have a hard time with an essay, I always end up finding a way to sum it all

My advice to makayla is to never get stuck on one question no longer than five minutes. It's okay to skip a question and come back to it later once you have answer all of the other questions. It's also okay to guess intelligently on some of the questions. I feel that you shouldn't always linger on the same questions, because that can cause you to loose most of you time on the test. John When writing I think John should just write everything out first step-by-step.…

Throughout the first semester of College Composition, I wrestled with three essays, all differing in format and content. The first was a narrative that reflected our educational experience. After this came an analysis of a visual text, followed by a research paper. The narrative was the easiest to write; however, I acquired important skills for writing the other two, which were in a less familiar format. With the three essays, I learned about my own writing skills and habits concerning development and critical thinking, time management, and organization.…

I recommend that Grafton should focus on improving persuasive writing, specifically on genres for responding, as this is the foundation of NAPLAN in this domain. As a general starting point, it would be beneficial to implement a socio-cultural teaching pedagogy in the classroom. This approach stresses the importance of developing multiple understandings about literacy and how it is used for a variety of purposes. Specific activities and practices that would be beneficial for targeted improvement in persuasive writing include: - Developing important language features e.g. normalisation and the appraisal system. I have always considered my relationship with writing to be very insignificant. Although I enjoy spending time verbally expressing my thoughts and feelings to others, it becomes difficult when these thoughts and feelings are expressed through writing. Throughout my adolescent years, I would often receive feedback for my writing given by the teacher in the form of a grade. Being unable to effectively organize my thoughts and ideas into words and sentences, I would feel reluctant to continue writing confidently whenever I received an undesirable grade.…
