Persuasive Writing Assignment

Improved Essays
The writing expected from college courses is one that most are unfamiliar with. Although students learn basic English skills throughout grade school and up to high school, most of the advanced steps are forgotten by the time the student is to enter college. Paired with this, are the nontraditional students, who haven’t studied advanced academic language for long periods of time. Professors are expecting students of all kinds of study to have a high academic vocabulary and high writing skill. Often times a gap in remedial writing courses within the first semester or so. Sometimes this transition is too difficult for certain students to adjust to, which is why it is important to familiarize oneself with the following types of writing assignments: …show more content…
Examples include: “Fast food consumption is linked to heart disease in low-income communities,” and “The chemicals used in pesticides pose the most significant threat to our health in the 21st century.” The rest of the paper allows the writer to use logic and reason to make their stance as agreeable as possible.When writing these papers it is recommended that the writer describe the central issue and present a compromise or replacement to remove the problem. The research paper can be used to show results from a research project or describe the results of another’s work. Under certain circumstances the combined use of these methods is required. These papers typically include formal sections, such as an introduction, review of existing research literature, analysis, discussion of results and conclusion. Some methods for writing a research paper include: The development of a clear and focused research question, hypothesis, thesis or topic.Identify relevant sources, including previous research reports. Assure that the analyzation of the results from the sources occurs . Give a description on how the sources prove or disprove your hypothesis, use this to expand your thesis or knowledge of the
