Persuasive Tap Water

In today’s world there are many controversies over what people should drink or eat. One of these are-if people should drink bottled water. It is after all very portable and good in extreme citations. This is a problem though because the bottles are made of plastic which fills our oceans and landfills and takes many years to decompose. Other people say the water is bad for the body, they say the chemicals in the plastic can leach out into the water and ultimately harm you. Lastly most people can’t tell what type of water there drinking anyway, so why not just drink tap water. For these reasons people need to try to stay away from bottled water altogether. Tap water is better for the environment than bottled water is because tap water uses less plastic. Most people use bottled water one time then they throw the bottles away. However, when people use tap water one container is used many times. This reduces the amount of plastic that is going into the landfills around the world. It is easily transported and maintains a level sanitary condition. In disaster situation or areas with low sanitation, bottled water might possible be the only water that is suitable for drinking. This is literally the only time bottle water is needed in today’s society. “Throughout the years, bottled water companies have immediately responded to the need for clean water after natural disasters, such as 2011's devastating storms in the Southeast and Midwest and record flooding in the Northeast; Hurricanes Andrew, Charlie, and Katrina; earthquakes; forest fires in the West; or the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center in 2001.”(What is the Role of the Bottled Water) But even though the water is useful in these situations, the bottles still end up in the ocean or landfill. Bottled water is a bad deal no matter how you think of
