"Who am I? How do I show up? How do I make change possible"

I spent the past two weeks in an amazing country and met some beautiful people. This study abroad program was truly a life-changing experience, as it has left a profound effect on me. I walked into this journey with 20 classmates and left with 20 life-long friends. Even though this group session was not focus on me, I gain so much insight about myself. Witnessing E.’s vulnerability and learning more about her story opened a door I had been terrified to face. Although E.’s story doesn’t necessary connects with mine, just sitting in the group room with her and seeing her tears and the way she’s grieving at that moment made me realized that at any moment, we can lose those we cherish. After 10 years of repressing this feeling, I finally found the courage to visit my grandma and have a heart to heart conversation with her because I was afraid that she would pass away and not hear my apologize. From this session, I am also very thankful of the group activity.…

Unfortunately, working at Publix and being a full-time student has become a rigorous experience. The pay I receive from working fifteen hours per week is not able to cover my tuition, financial needs, or cost for the Study Abroad program.…

While jumping out of an airplane, the Irish visitor to Australia Skyped his parents Pat and Mary, much to their hilariously endearing (and expletive-laden) dismay.…

Each student left an incredible impact on me as I realized that there were still many systemic issues that persist in the educational system that I experienced and they continue to experience. I was also shocked at how accurate the readings correlated to what happens in real life.
