Anthony Holmes woke up on April 20, 1999 around 3:00 pm in Omaha, Nebraska. At the time, he was employed by the Air Force, working night shifts that lasted from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. He turned on the news as usual, ate some food- except, unknown to him, nothing that day was going to be the usual routine. He went to work, and that was where he would learn the horror of what had happened earlier that day.…

One of the victims of the holdup described him as “a quiet, good-looking young fellow, rather tall, frank-looking face.” He was not a heartless, cruel, malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness. Liberal party leader Justin Trudeau used various types of pure persuasion to convey his message (Gass & Seiter, 2012, p. 23). In order to intentionally evoke an emotional bond with his listeners, Trudeau recounted various opinions and stories from Canadians he had encounters during his travel across Canada. He stated that many Canadians beyond the capital often believe that the “people in Ottawa”, the parliament, are not listening to their concerns (CBC News, 2015). He then asserted, “Well I am” after a dramatic pause to add further emphasis to his bold statement (2015). As discussed in class, this was an effective use of the peripheral root persuasive technique as it not only appealed to the core of voters who can relate with the families…

But in the case of Private Dan Bullock he became a casualty of the Vietnam War, becoming the youngest American serviceman killed in the line of duty. Bullock was a southern boy, who was born and raised in the small town of Goldsboro, North Carolina which is about 52 miles north of the state capital of Raleigh. When Bullock was 12, his mom passed away and he and his sister, Gloria, were forced to go live with his father and wife in Brooklyn. Instead of settling for a life of going to school, playing sports, first crushes, and typical boy stuff, Bullock was enamored with all things military, particularly the U.S. Marines.…

If the Newseum is torn down, the first amendment will not have a place to be celebrated just for itself, so there will be no place to celebrate the first American Constitutional freedom. President Trump is pressuring Congress into passing a bill that will start a project to make room for new monuments. The project will consist of tearing down monuments that the government feels are unnecessary. The project will ruin DC and the American spirit. If the bill does pass, the Newseum should definitely not be torn down since it is a reminder of what America is, it will have horrible economic effects on the country, and tearing it down will diminish the American spirit.…

People’s achievements should be judged according to how much they help others because although all achievements should recognized, people who aid others in achieving their goal deserve more positive feedback because it encourages the act of being courageous. Someone who achieves a personal goal should definitely be recognized for his/her’s feat, but one who founds an organization to help refugees, or someone who tackles a man who was about to throw a grenade, should not only receive attention, but they deserve to be honored in a more dignified way than someone who is a daredevil. People’s achievements should be judged according to how much they help others because courageous acts that better the world need to be focused on more than courageous…

One of the main goals in a successful nation is to remain out of conflict with other countries whenever possible. This is the job of the Department of Defense in the United States and other organizations such as the United Nations, to help and promote peace between countries. This idea of tranquility isn 't seen in George Orwell’s, 1984, as the Ministry of Peace has one job, and that is to remain in conflict. The job of the Ministry of Peace is the most significant paradox in the novel, as it allows for the government to maintain control over their citizens, as fear of war around them ensures that they will always remain obedient.…
