Good morning Harry,

That was a real intersting statistic. Up until we bought our home, we had not had any cable service for well over 7 years. Cable prices are way too pricey nowadays. The only reason why we even got cable to begin with was because we moved to a new area and U-verse had a great bundle that included cable, internet, HBO GO, and a free year subscription to Amazon Prime for $50 a month. These two choices are portrayed as two extremes. DirecTV is the best possible option, and cable is the worst possible option. This is a fallacy because there are other options available to consumers. Some consumers have started using online services, such as Netflix, in order to watch their favorite TV shows (Hunt). The final fallacy I was able to identify is slippery slope.…

Forgiving those who hurt us, and above that showing them kindness, is not an easy thing to do. How can you show mercy to your aggressor? How can you be kind and compassionate to someone who treated you unfairly? Say a man committed a crime against you that is considered unforgivable. Would you show this man mercy?…

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the 1905 Industrial Innovator Awards, a gathering of all our esteemed and honored business venturers and America’s leading industrialists. Tonight, our nominees for leading industrialists are John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie. Both men have contributed to the world of business and industry in a multitude of ways, but our winner tonight has exemplified the epitome of a true Captain of Industry. Born in Scotland as the son of a weaver, our recipient immigrated to the United States in 1848, working as a bobbin boy in a cotton mill. Advancing to a job as a private secretary and telegrapher, our industrialist took his first step into the world of business by buying stock in a sleeping-car company,…

Intro: Hello everyone, my name is Bellanna and I believe that California should introduce a statewide minimum wage rate of 15 dollars an hour by 2018. To give you background on my topic, I would like to begin by defining some terms for you. First of all, minimum wage is lowest wage permitted by law for a worker to earn, and living wage is one that is high enough to maintain a normal standard of living. Statewide means I want this amount to be the standard throughout all of California. The current California minimum wage, as of July 2014 is 9 dollars.…

House Speaker John Boehner has packed it in. At the same time one of his principal tormentors, Congressman Mark Meadows, has kept a low profile. Thus far he has had the decency to not dance on Boehner’s grave. Boehner’s demise and Meadows’ role in bringing him down have significance that goes way beyond the bad blood between a 25-year House veteran and an upstart back-bencher. The real significance that their dispute throws into sharp relief is that the House of Representatives no longer functions.…

Intro: The federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour, which means that depending on where you live, working for an hour will barely buy you a Chipotle burrito (this is without guac). Because of inflation, the minimum wage today is worth a few dollars less than before. Many politicians agree that we should raise minimum wage. Bernie sanders for example said “Nobody who works 40 hours a week should be living in poverty, a job should lift workers out of poverty, not keep them in it.”…

From the time that the federal minimum wage was enacted, through this very day, the federal minimum wage amount has been a topic of discussion of increase, decrease and elimination altogether. Although, it seems very hard to get any legislation passed and signed these days, states and the federal government has been passing it, so quickly, they are skipping a vote for it. Simply moving to an unprecedented, approximate, double the current minimum wage just to grease a few squeaky wheels that are so lazy, that to make a noise they simply stand or walk on a street or sidewalk, hold a sign and essentially ask for a handout, much like a homeless person. First, a little history on the subject.…

Younger, more technologically informed TV watchers are figuring out new ways to access television and movies through the internet and services such as Netflix and Hulu. The monopolistic industry that has formed around cable television has fewer and fewer consumers to spread their high cost of capital between and therefore are finding other means to increase revenues that are often hidden in additional services and equipment rental. Who is to blame for the high price cable television subscribers are left with: is it the local governments and their captive theory of involvement, is it the FCC and DOJ for not strictly enforcing regulations and allowing too many mergers to skate through, or is it the lack of real competition caused by the monopoly of the industry? The real dilemma and question to answer is where does it go from here, and how does one of life’s simple pastimes of TV viewing be made more affordable for all…
