College athletics have gained immense popularity among Americans over the past few decades. This has resulted into increased in a lot of money for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the participating colleges, which has sparked the debate of whether college athletes should be given money beyond their athletic scholarships but I think they should get paid for the following reason they should be paid because without the players that risk injuries on the team the association would not make the money they do now and their coaches get paid but why not them and most importantly students after…

For instance, Kozol visited a middle school in Camden, New Jersey and there weren't enough books for every child in the class. When visiting a math class, an eighth-grader was not able to put five and two together. In science, students were performing a lab without the proper lab materials, and because of this, they were not able to see the actual outcome of the experiment they were testing. It does not just happen in middle schools but as well in high school. Kozol visited Camden High School, and they cannot afford facilities for lunch, so about 2,000 students leave school to get lunch elsewhere, and many of them do not bother coming back which leads to the dropout and non attendance rates to be very high according to the principal of the school.…

First, colleges provide high privileges to their athletes. Colleges offer excellent benefits to their athletes such as scholarships, which mean that these students are receiving free tuition, room, board, and also books and many other resources that they can take advantage of. Even though opponent views could argue that the college athletes already bring a huge amount of money for the university, the money of their scholarships does not have to be paid back from the athletes because they are selected from the university just by playing in one of their teams. Moreover, most of the students do not have the same benefits as the ones involved in sports because they will go out of the school with a significant loan debt if they cannot afford to pay their college. Therefore, in comparison, most of the students-athletes have a comfortable financial journey while in college than those who are not involved in sports.…

Unfortunately what critics lack to admit is that normal student’s face these same issues, being involved in on campus clubs and other ordeals those normal students face no one truly has a lot of time to get a job. Athletes have built in connections that non-athletes do not have, so being on an athletic team is by far more advantageous then simply being a student. So why should student athletes be the only students benefitting monetarily for their hard work (College Athletes). No one is enslaving nor, “forcing these athlete-students to play football. Don't hand me the garbage about it being their only opportunity in life.…
