It is important to honor our veterans because they risked their lives for our freedom. Without them, we wouldn’t have won a lot of wars. Luckily, Congress made Armistice Day a national holiday so we have a set day to celebrate our veterans. Then in 1954 President Eisenhower changed it to veteran’s day to honor all veterans, rather than just from WW1. This is why it’s important to honor our veterans.…

The question being asked of me is “Why Veterans are Important to Our Nation’s History and Future?” Veterans are important to me because I live with two of them and I have a lot of them in my family. Without them, I wouldn’t know the reason why we have people sacrificing themselves for our country. My Grandpa, Roy Noble, always said that “War is not good but fighting for our country is,” I didn’t really understand that until I realized without them we wouldn’t have a free country. Britain would have taken over and we would have a queen instead of a president, or something like that.…

I am writing to thank you for your service to the United States and wish you a happy Veterans Day. The magnitude of your selflessness and courage is incomprehensible to me, and though these may be trite words, I sincerely mean what I say. I can think of no experience more inherently laudable and worthy of profound respect than serving in the armed forces. What compounds my gratitude of your service specifically is your modesty in discussing your service. Indeed, I believe you mentioned your service only once or twice in class.…

It is estimated that there are over fifty-thousand homeless veterans on any given night. It is sad too see someone who literally fought and defended our country, and our lives with everything they had living in the streets, dying of hunger. It is mournful to see the government to just thank them with no reward and throw them into the streets like that.…

When we think of a Military Veteran, often times our minds jump right to Vietnam or World War I and II. Many have served and sacrificed since the beginning of time. Some have been drafted, some chose the Military as a way of serving their country, while some chose to join for a guaranteed means to support them and their family. Not once did a Veteran think while they were Active Duty that eventually they would or could become unemployed. Unable to support themselves, or their family.…

In November of 1918, soldiers returned home after fighting in the first world war resented, alone and scarred. Veterans were shunned, mentally and physically hurt and most were homeless.
