Today Charlotte faces a problem, it is, our poverty not a new one but an enduring one. Charlotte has face poverty problems for many years but it was never as big as it is now. Poverty is easy to end if we all lend a helping hand. America is the land of opportunity and we must make sure it stay that way.
We must focus on the poverty issue before it's too late because this can happen to anyone at anytime. As of right now when I am giving this speech, our poverty rate is 17.2% and growing. 26% of the children in Charlotte lives in poverty and 396,000 children's has parents who has no full time job to support them.
