As a global community, the US has the obligation to help remedy their ills for the betterment of humanity.
Evidence: According to the Guardian in April of 2017, “The stream of arrivals, who averaged 2,800 each day in March, has begun to take a toll on the country’s southern neighbour Uganda, host to roughly half of the 1.6 million people forced to flee their homes. Uganda is feeling the neglect. The country has one of the world’s most compassionate refugee policies… In February, it declared a famine in parts of the country, affecting 100,000 people and threatening 1 million more”
Link: These statistics stand to show that the urgency is now. If the United States stands to help humanity in its times of crisis, stands for the suffering civilians of the world, it is necessary to implement humanitarian aid.
Impact: This aid will be crucial to aid Uganda in its goals to help Sudanese migrants as well as its own people who are feeling the neglect. Cramped shelters and poor infrastructure of the communities embody the problems humanity has to help

Today I was told by a source close to the University of Texas that Notre Dame quarterback Transfer Malik Zaire is no longer considering Florida. Originally I had thought Malik Zaire was postponing to wait for the SEC to possibly change a rule that would allow Zaire to transfer to Florida and play right away. It now appears that Malik Zaire is looking to graduate and then he will announce where he will go. - Zaire Top Schools - Texas Longhorns Wisconsin Badgers Technically the University of Florida still has an opportunity to land Malik Zaire, either way Florida will be fine at the quarterback…

Michael Walzer makes a compelling argument in his article on global crisis, “the Argument about Humanitarian Intervention”. Walzer argues that humans have always been fighting each other and causing global problems. He claims that with today’s technology it has never been simpler to kill large numbers of people, if one has the resources of course. Walzer poses the question that in the event of a humanitarian crisis, such as cases of severe war crimes or ethnic cleansing, to what degree should the rest of the world respond? In Walzer’s article he discusses four major questions.…

People fear what they do not know. Ignorance breeds intolerance. In this very moment, intolerant hands and minds are bringing about the victimization and dehumanization of a citizen of this world. In most recent news, an executive order in the United States of America was made calling for a temporary ban on visas for individuals from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen and Somalia; a 120-day suspension of the resettlement of all refugees; and an indefinite ban on the resettlement of Syrian refugees. Since the onset of the Civil War in Syria, over 13 million people have been identified as refugees.…

Australia’s response to the current refugee crisis is fairly decent, and it’s definitely a step in the right direction but it can be improved upon. There are an estimated 59.5 million refugees and displaced people in the world today. More than half of these refugees are taken in by just nine countries; Pakistan, Iran, Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Kenya, Chad, Ethiopia, and China. Not including refugees that have been relocated from overseas, Australia currently is home to 34,503 refugees, which is just 0.29% of the global total.…

903729366 Essay 2: Intervention to Stop ISIS In President Obama’s speech in 2014, “Intervention to Stop ISIS”, he elaborates on the significance of helping others in need, that because we hold “unique capabilities” (i.e. our highly advanced/geographically ubiquitous military and a request of aid from the Iraqi government) we should act carefully and responsibly to prevent potential evil actions happening in our world. One could determine the morality of President Obama’s military actions by applying the Just War Theory — the doctrine that war be morally permissible under stipulated conditions. — into Jus Ad Bellum theories. In the first theory, “The cause must be just”, the order meets the condition because the action was taken in respect…

After reviewing my persuasive speech over why the University of Oklahoma is the best university in the nation, I would sum up my speech as a little bit of train wreck. Although I made good claims with factual evidence, the amount of stuttering I did, and all the times I was choked up throughout the speech drew my audience’s attention away. From this, I lost my audience’s belief that I was competent of the information I was reiterating to them. At the introduction of my speech I believe I started out fairly strong and gave a good run down of the coming speech.…

The Plight of Gay Refugees Refugees flee their homeland for either political, economic, or social reasons. An increasingly common reason for people fleeing is because of the oppression, discrimination and persecution of homosexual people. The ILGA states that 75 countries currently outlaw homosexuality with varying degrees of punishment. (Carroll & Borahy, 2015) Refugees fleeing persecution from these countries, typically seek asylum in European countries. Although hoping to find a safe haven, more than often they face varying levels of discrimination during the asylum process, such as humiliating questioning and being forced to ‘prove their gayness’ in a variety of ways.…

The Endless Humanitarian Crisis The humanitarian crisis of this world is at a level never seen in the history of man. Not since World War II have there been so many refugees or IDPs. In 2014, there were almost 60 million refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) around the globe right now. Put another way, that’s one in every 122 people worldwide.
